3.6 /5 Overall score
average of 5 criteria
  • Spec strength4.0

Rechargeable 650 mAh cells, 9 modes and a flashlight beat the MARCALA's disposable-battery design, but Ecoangel publishes no LED count, lumen, IP rating or runtime where MARCALA states 15 LEDs, IP67 and a visibility distance.

  • Build quality3.5

PC/ABS body the maker calls crushproof and waterproof, but with no IP rating; MARCALA states IP67.

  • Fit & compatibility4.5

Magnet, hook and a flat disc work on any vehicle; USB charging means no battery hunt, though the cells need topping up every few months.

  • Warranty & support2.0

No warranty term, only a promise of a reply within 12 hours; MARCALA's listing states lifetime coverage.

  • Value4.0

No list price to score; a three-pack of rechargeable discs replaces a lifetime of AAA purchases and a box of burning flares.

Score is calculated from the manufacturer's published specifications. BaniCar has not handled this unit. Specs and availability change — verify on the listing.

Safety note: Warning-light placement rules vary by state and for commercial vehicles. Check local law.

Verdict

A good rechargeable set for drivers who will remember to charge it, with a flashlight mode that's handy under the hood. If you want a flare that sits in the trunk for years and works the first time, the battery-powered MARCALA is the safer bet.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Rechargeable — no spare batteries to stock
  • Nine flash modes including SOS, plus a flashlight mode
  • Magnetic base and folding hook for hands-free placement
  • Includes a storage case

Cons

  • No IP rating, LED count, brightness or runtime published
  • Listing says USB-C but ships a generic USB cable; port type should be confirmed on the unit
  • A dead cell in the trunk is a dead flare — the MARCALA's replaceable batteries avoid that
  • No warranty published and no DOT/SAE claim

Best for

  • Commuters who can charge it in the car
  • Boaters and campers who want a floating-style disc with SOS
  • Drivers who want a work light and flare in one

Frequently asked questions

How long does a charge last?

Ecoangel doesn't publish a runtime, only a claim of over a year on standby. Plan to top the discs up every few months and after any use.

Are these DOT approved like the MARCALA flares claim?

No DOT or SAE claim is published for the Ecoangel discs. LED flares in general aren't covered by FMVSS 125, which addresses non-powered triangles; if your state or employer requires compliant devices, carry triangles.

Will the magnet stick to my car?

On steel panels, yes. Aluminum hoods and tailgates (many pickups and some SUVs) won't hold a magnet — use the folding hook or set the disc on the road.
